The Real Reason We Wear Clothing.

In the beginning God created Adam and Eve in a state of nakedness (Gen. 2:25). Eve was tempted by the Serpent and she ate of the forbidden fruit. She then offered it to Adam and he willingly chose to partake of it (Gen. 6:7).

Their eyes were opened and they made themselves aprons of fig leaves, because they realized they were naked (Gen. 6:7). Then, they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden and at that point Adam and Eve hid themselves from the presence of the Lord amongst the trees of the garden (Gen. 6:8).

So, we see that Adam and Eve sinned against God. Because of that sin, they hid from the presence of God by sewing fig leaves together and hiding amongst the trees of the garden. Then we read that the Lord made coats of skins to clothe them with (Gen.3:21). Coats of skins, means that some animal had to die to pay the debt of sin. The Lord God placed the skins upon them to cover their sins because without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.

This story is a picture of Salvation. Man sinned and was separated from God. God provided a sacrifice and covered them with the blood that their sins be forgiven.
